Optician Home Visits

We provide a sight test at home service. If you are aged 60 or over and are unable to go out without help or assistance, you are entitled to an eye test in the comfort of your own home and this is provided free of charge under the NHS.

At Black's Opticians, this service is always provided by Philip Hogg, so you will always see the same optician. Philip has 20 years of experience of home visits. To arrange an optician home visit, call us today.

Sight at Home Service

We have modern portable sight testing equipment allows the sight test to be carried out as in the practice/shop. We cover most parts of Tyne and Wear and County Durham – Please ring to check if our sight at home service covers your area.

You can choose your glasses at the same time as you have your test, and there is a large range of frames to choose from. Prices from £35 for single vision glasses, £65 for bifocal glasses and £85 for varifocal glasses.

Free Glasses

Free glasses are available if you are entitled to an NHS voucher, and we offer competitive prices (see the Eye Tests page). A delivery service is available, and we offer a full aftercare service for 12 months at no charge.

Any visits needed for adjustments to glasses are free.
